Deep Viewing Definition 






Theme:  A polluted landscape damages a person’s life,  as a landscape is unavoidable.

  1.  0:09 faded face in sky (Camera Angle) shows self and land must merge. Connected. 
  2. 0:12 female silhouette (camera angle)  on landscape of machines/ gas/ polluted  looking down shows sad/ damage. Again, she is a part of land and it hurts her.
  3. 0:20 Gas Pipes (camera angle) - Person is polluted along with land.
  4. 0:31 Cross (symbol) — this man has no choice but be religious— see how the cross seems to stab him  in his gut (symbol/ camera angle). 
  5. 0:41 (camera angle) Again, eye/ person reflects what they see— this prostitute is a result of her setting. No focus on her to blame. Focus on setting as blame. 0:44 same as above— Deprived setting forced this woman to strip/ prostitute.
  6. 0:45  “When I touched her skin, my fingers ran with blood” (Lyric) Again, what I touch, where I am impacts me.  No idea if he was violent, but has blood on hands like a killer (Lady Macbeth).
  7. 0:55- Fire (symbol) shows maybe trying to escape, hurt landscape, but still a part of him
  8. 0:57 Road built into face (Camera) — inescapable trapped/ part of hmi. Goes with his face.
  9. 1:00 “rattle snakes unfold” (lyric)  snakes hide in landscape and hurt a person.
  10. 1:18 3rd face in a row that is sad. Shows emotional damage. (symbol)
  11. 1: 35 “The wind will be my hand” Landscape and person merge. (lyric) “towards the boiling sun” Continued focus on setting.
